About Me
About Paul’s Digital Farm
Welcome to Dispatches from the New Age Digital Farm—where gardening, economics, and culture converge through mythic storytelling. Each piece is a row in the digital field, tended and harvested for the narrative economy.
What Grows Here
🌱 The Garden (Humid Cold Series)
I garden in Zone 8b, coastal South Carolina, where the weather doesn’t match the calendar and the plants live in a temperature the thermometer doesn’t show. The Humid Cold series explores the 5–10 degree cushion created by moisture—that invisible warmth that makes brassicas, greens, and peas thrive when the forecast says they shouldn’t.
This is practical, soil-under-the-nails writing about timing, succession planting, and reading the mercury instead of the calendar. Start with Gardening in the Humid Cold: Old Wisdom Meets New Climate.
🔥 Farmer’s Rant
Quick dispatches from the field—unpolished thoughts on the seasons, the soil, the big box paradox, and the itch that burns to start the season before the frost date says you should. These are the pieces that don’t fit in a how-to but need to be said anyway.

🌃 The Mythic Mesh (Digital Noir & Long-Form Fiction)
When the sun goes down, the farm shifts into the digital strata. This isn’t just fiction; it’s a cull. In the neon-soaked gutters of the data-strata, I track the fragments that the algorithms missed—the “bio-digital mulch” of discarded memories and spectral echoes.
- The Mesh: The omnipresent, humming network that syncs with the pulse of the city and the souls of those trapped within its Rows.
- The Cullers: Those who drag magnets through the digital alleys, harvesting deleted drafts to graft into autonomous Legacy Bots.
- The Story: This is the mythic reflection of our own technological reality, where data isn’t dead—it’s just a commodity waiting to be reborn.
“The street finds its own use for the dead. A lost draft is a seed; a deleted DM is a root.”

📊 The Ledger (Coming Soon)
For those who prefer the cold, hard numbers, I am currently building The Ledger. This is where my “accountant’s approach” to the soil lives—using Notion to track every seed count, weather shift, and harvest yield. It is the data behind the dirt, coming once the harvest is fully tallied.
Who I Am
I’m Paul Monroe, gardening in South Carolina’s humid cold, writing at the intersection of soil and story, data and myth. By day, the garden. By night, the digital strata. Both are cultivated with the same attention to what the algorithms and the calendars miss.
This site is where I tend both fields.
Want to follow along? The garden posts come as the seasons demand. The fiction arrives when the Mesh decides. Either way, you’ll find something growing here.
